Gene Graves – Surgery Set but now canceled
Gene and Debbie met with the doctors of the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Clinic in New York and felt confident with this team of physicians. Although surgery had been set the team decided after further study of the type of cancer that a treatment of chemotherapy would be even more effective in removal of the tumors. Gene understood this as a positive development. Gene and Debbie traveled home on Thursday and treatments will be set up in Gainesville.
Gene Graves Update
Brother Gene is scheduled for an appointment with the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 10:45am. The Sloan-Kettering Center is the #2 rated cancer center in the nation and has worked quickly to process Gene’s records. Pray for Gene and Debbie that this is the direction the Lord would lead them as they have many decisions to make. Continue to pray to total healing.
A Call to Fast
Recently, several of our members have been diagnosed and struggling with major illnesses (Gene Graves – cancer; Sam Fowler – cancer; Rosie Rosier – cancer; Bobby Lane – major back and digestive tract surgery; Carol Pennington – acute pancreatitis). Our pastor is calling the church to a three day fast to seek our Lord’s intervention and healing in these illnesses. Join with us in this fast which begins Monday, Janurary 19 through Wednesday, January 21.
Gene Graves, Missions Pastor
RRC has been deeply saddened by the recent diagnosis of Gene Graves, our Missions Pastor, with gall bladder cancer. The tumor has spread to the liver. Currently, Brother Gene is at home awaiting the results of a CAT scan which will determine whether he will be a candidate for surgery. Surgery has been set for February 10 pending the test results which will be known by Thursday, January 22. This is a very dangerous cancer and medically the prognosis is not good, but we place our trust in the mighty God of creation and redemption. This is truly a time for our Lord to reveal Himself. Pray for Gene, Debbie and their family. Pray for Gene’s physical healing and for his spirit as he longs to be in Honduras as we begin building the dormitories on the Mission Builders property.

Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed: A Study of David
This ladies’ class will be held from January 28th through March 4th on Wednesdays. A morning class will be held at 9 am and evening class at 6:30 pm. Sign up for the class is on the bulletin board in the educational building hallway. Book cost is $15.
Ladies’ Holy Land Trip
We are planning a trip to the Holy Land on Friday, Jan. 16th and Saturday, Jan 17th. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Please sign up as soon as possible. The cost will be $35 for Holy Land admission plus hotel and food expenses.
